About the Artist
Artist Bio
Sharon Estes is a self-taught artist living in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. She creates in two mediums -- acrylic paintings in a style she calls "Technicolor Realism," which uses bright, saturated color, depicting images in a way that they are representative of the object, just not in a traditional realist manner; and hand-printed watercolor white line woodcuts, also known as Provincetown Prints.
Sharon has been included in numerous juried exhibits across Rhode Island, including the Providence Art Club Annual National Open Juried Exhibition 2025, in which she and 67 other artists were chosen from a field of 900 entries. She is represented by Rhode Island Art Gallery in Newport, Rhode Island.
Creativity has always been a part of Sharon's life, and in 2018, at the age of 57, she picked up a paint brush and never looked back.
Artist Statement
I am an artist who is in love with color. I love how color can communicate a feeling faster than any other element in a painting. I love how color can change a painting's mood in an instant, and I love pushing colors around and into one another on a canvas.
My work is meant to provide a bright spot in the viewer's life. When someone purchases a painting from me, I want them to walk by it every day and think, "I love this painting," and it makes them smile, brings them joy, inspires them. If I can touch a person's life in this way, I have fulfilled the goal and purpose of my work.
